Privacy policy
The short version: your gift list stays on your phone. There’s no account, no ads and no tracking. We only send what’s needed to suggest gift ideas and check purchases.
Effective: November 1, 2026
Gifteez is made by Barbell Wiz LLC, a company in the United States. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Barbell Wiz LLC.
1. What stays on your phone
Everything you add to Gifteez is stored only on your phone: the people on your list and their names, occasions and dates, interests, notes, budgets, gift ideas, and what you bought and spent. We don’t have a copy, so we can’t see it or restore it.
You can export a backup file. If you set a passphrase, the file is encrypted on your phone before you save or share it. Without a passphrase, it’s a plain file that anyone who has it can read. Where you keep backups is up to you.
2. When you ask for AI gift ideas
When you tap Find ideas for someone, Gifteez sends a request to our service, which asks OpenAI for suggestions. The request includes only what’s needed to suggest gifts for that person:
- relationship (for example, “sister”) and age or age range
- the occasion and year, budget and currency
- interests, likes and dislikes, and your notes (up to 300 characters)
- titles of gifts you’ve already given or saved, and ideas you dismissed, so they aren’t repeated
The name field is never sent. If you type a name or other personal details into notes, those words are sent as written, so please leave them out.
Your request passes through our service to OpenAI’s API, and the suggestions come back to your phone. We send those requests with OpenAI storage turned off (store: false). Under OpenAI’s API policy, OpenAI may keep API inputs and outputs for up to 30 days to watch for abuse, and does not use them to train its models.
We do not save the wording of your request (notes, interests, relationship, and the rest) as its own record. We do save the suggestions we return, tied only to the anonymous installation, so opening the same batch again does not use another batch and a retry is not counted twice. A cache copy is marked to expire after 30 days. The request record that holds those same suggestions is kept so the retry check still works, and it does not expire on its own. Our logs keep technical details, such as whether a request worked and token counts, not the words you sent.
3. What our service stores
Gifteez has no accounts. On first use, the app creates a random anonymous key and keeps it in your phone’s secure storage. Our service stores only a scrambled (one-way hashed) form of that key. It isn’t tied to your name, email or phone number. Our service keeps only these records:
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| The hashed anonymous installation ID | So your phone can use the idea service and your balance can be found | While the installation is active |
| Your idea counters: batches available and used, and whether you’ve unlocked | So free and paid limits work, and so a restore can move them to a new phone | While the installation is active |
| Purchase records: product, purchase and refund dates, and a one-way code for the store transaction | To add batches once per purchase, and to handle refunds and restores | As long as needed for the purchase, refunds and restores, and our legal obligations (such as tax records) |
| The suggestions we returned for an installation | So the same batch can be opened again without using another batch, and so a retry is not charged twice | The cache copy is marked to expire after 30 days. The request record that also holds those suggestions does not expire on its own. |
| A daily total of AI requests across all users, with no identifiers | To protect the service from abuse and cost spikes | A single overall total. It contains nothing about you. |
We don’t store your list or the wording of your gift requests. We do store the suggestions described above.
This data is stored in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore and Cloud Functions). The app can’t read or change it directly. Only our service can.
4. Purchases
Purchases are made through the App Store or Google Play. We never see your payment card, name, or email. RevenueCat processes purchase information and an anonymous app user ID for the install (not your name or email) so purchases and restores can be checked. When a restore succeeds, the unlock and remaining idea batches move to that install, and the previous install is no longer the one that holds them.
5. Other services the app uses
- Firebase App Check (Google) checks that requests come from the real Gifteez app, using Apple App Attest and DeviceCheck on iPhone and Google Play Integrity on Android. This protects the service from abuse. It doesn’t identify you.
- Firebase Remote Config and Cloud Storage (Google) deliver app settings and seasonal themes. Google uses a random app-instance ID to do this.
- OpenAI generates gift ideas, as described above.
Like any internet service, these providers may briefly process your IP address to deliver the response. Each handles data under its own privacy policy: Firebase, OpenAI, RevenueCat.
6. Shopping links
Shop opens an Amazon search for the idea in your browser. Ideas for tickets or experiences open a Google search. Gifteez doesn’t see what you browse or buy there. These links do not include an affiliate tag today. If we later add an Amazon Associates tag, we will say so on this page and in the app before it is used. Amazon’s and Google’s own privacy policies apply on their sites.
7. Contacts, calendar and reminders
Importing birthdays from Contacts or your Calendar is optional and read-only. Gifteez reads only what it needs to fill in dates on your phone, and nothing from your contacts or calendar is sent to us. Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your phone.
8. What we don’t do
- No accounts, sign-up, email or phone number
- No advertising, ad IDs or tracking across apps and websites
- No analytics or crash-reporting tools
- No selling or sharing of personal information
9. Deleting your data
- Your list: remove a person in the app, or delete the app (on Android, you can also clear the app’s storage) to erase everything on your phone. Delete any backup files you saved.
- On our service: we hold only the anonymous installation ID, idea counters and purchase records described above, with no name, contact details, gift requests or ideas. To ask us to delete them, email support@gifteez.app.
Email support@gifteez.app and we’ll help. Because there’s no account, most of your data is only on your phone: deleting the app removes that copy. On iPhone the anonymous key is kept in the Keychain and may still be there after you delete the app, so a reinstall can look like the same installation. The app doesn’t show that key. If we can’t match the anonymous records from your email alone, a purchase receipt from Apple or Google is how we find them. We’ll reply as soon as we can; we don’t promise a fixed number of hours.
10. Children
Gifteez is meant for adults planning gifts, including gifts for children. You must be 13 or older to use Gifteez. It isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. When you plan for a child, only an age or age range and the other details listed in section 2 go to our service, never their name. If you think a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
11. Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update this page and the effective date. For important changes, we’ll also let you know in the app.
